The ISPS HANDA World Invitational Men | Women, presented by Modest! Golf Management assembles a men’s and a women’s field under one banner to compete for equal prize funds.
Here is how the tournament will go:
The Venues
With two separate fields totalling in the region of 300 players, every single competitor will play one round at each of Galgorm Castle Golf Club and Massereene Golf Club on the first two days before a 36 hole cut reduces both the men’s and women’s fields to the top 60 before a further cut takes place following the third round, with all players competing at Galgorm Castle over the weekend. Both venues are located northwest of Belfast.
Two become one
Unlike most tournaments, surviving the 36-hole cut does not automatically punch a ticket to the final round. The men’s and women’s fields will be blended for championship Sunday, and the tee times following an alternating order. Because of this, the two fields will face a 54-hole cut to the top 35 players and ties.
Equal winners
The total prize fund for the ISPS HANDA World Invitational Men | Women, presented by Modest! Golf Management is US$500,000 with the men’s and women’s champion taking the lion’s share of the respective $250,000 prize funds. With the alternating final round tee times, and a significant prize fund on offer, the prospect of back-to-back theatrics from the final men’s and women’s groups will bring golf fans a rare opportunity to see two champions crowned within minutes of each other.
