Flying start for Frost

David Frost continued his impressive record at Constance Belle Mare Plage with a strong start to the MCB Tour Championship.

After opening with a par on the first hole, the South African fired a hat-trick of birdies from the second. He then picked up further shots on the sixth and eighth holes to reach the turn 31 shots, five under par.

Frost won the former MCB Open over the Legend Course in 2010, defeating Roger Chapman in a play-off, and was runner-up to Tom Lehman last year.

He also finished fifth in 2009 and in nine previous rounds he has only shot over par once – a closing round 73 in 2009.

Fellow South African Steve Van Vuuren also had a bright start to his round and was five under through 13 holes.

Double Senior Major Champion Roger Chapman, who will receive the John Jacobs Trophy on Sunday after already sealing the Order of Merit crown,  reached the turn in three under par, while defending champion tom Lehman was one under par.
