Flying start for Fisher Junior

Trevor Fisher Junior showed no sign of nerves when making the perfect start to his final round at the Joburg Open.

The seven-time Sunshine Tour winner admitted to feeling the pressure after ending the penultimate day tied for the lead with Richard Sterne on 19 under, five clear of four players sharing third.

However, it was Fisher Junior who roared out of the blocks today, eagling the opening hole.

Sterne had to settle for birdie, but was soon back on terms with his rival courtesy of a two at the short second.

The chasing pack was headed by Garth Mulroy, who followed up yesterday’s 65 with three straight birdies this morning, and Thomas Aiken, also at 15 under following an eagle-birdie start. They were soon joined by another South African, Brandon Pieters, who picked up five shots in seven holes with the aid of an eagle at the sixth.

Charl Schwartzel, a two-time winner at this venue, sat eight off the leading pair following a bogey at the second.
