Tommy Fleetwood is hopeful he is edging back towards the winner's circle after firing a second consecutive 65 to be right in the mix heading into the weekend at the Omega European Masters.
The Englishman has missed just one cut since his last appearance at Crans-sur-Sierre Golf Club in 2017, the season that saw him crowned Race to Dubai Champion.
In that time he has finished second at two Major Championships and played a huge role in a European Ryder Cup win but has won just once at the Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship presented by EGA in 2018.
The 28-year-old went over three years between his first and second European Tour wins, and Fleetwood is not worried as long as he keeps taking on world class fields every week.
"Out here you are playing against 156 of the best players in Europe," said the World Number 13.
"Every week there will be ten, 20 guys at least playing really well. To make the cut these days you've got to play really well and then there's the guys who are playing really, really well.
"72 holes is a long time to keep concentration. When you tap in on the first on Thursday morning it's equally as important as when you finish on Sunday.
"Of course it's difficult. Nothing in life is supposed to come easy. It's just nice to keep putting myself in positions and hopefully I'll start winning more. Maybe that will start this week."
Fleetwood has putted excellently over the first two days in Crans Montana - using a short stick bought for £90 off eBay by caddie Ian Finnis - and he is delighted to see his hard work on the practice green pay off.
"People like to talk about mindset a lot," he said. "No one can see it so it's an easy thing to blame.
"I was clearly struggling the last couple of weeks with a slight technical fault, it's difficult from there. If you're not hitting the putts that you want, they're not on line, it doesn't matter how good you are mentally it's not going to happen for you.
"Equally as important to iron out the technical side and if you're good mentally - I feel like I am, I work hard on that side - if you give yourself an opening to that, that's when you can really get into the putts and start holing them."
