Five things to know: Prague Golf Challenge

The European Challenge Tour heads to Prague City Golf this week and we have taken a look at five key facts before the Prague Golf Challenge gets under way.

Porteous back for more

Defending Prague Golf Challenge champion Garrick Porteous returns to Prague City Golf aiming to claim the title once again.

In 2017, the Englishman recorded a dominant five-shot victory to claim his first Challenge Tour title with rounds of 66-67-64-67.

The 28 year old currently lies 60thon the Road to Ras Al Khaimah and will be wanting to push for a top 15 spot by defending his trophy this week.

Kim to conquer the Czech Republic?  

Minkyu Kim has already won in the Czech Republic this season – writing his name in the history books by claiming the D+D REAL Czech Challenge in May.

The South Korean became the youngest champion in European Tour and Challenge Tour history at the age of 17 years and 64 days and returns to the Czech Republic looking to become a two-time victor this year.

Now, he will play in his debut Prague Golf Challenge and aims to become the first player to win twice in the same country on the Challenge Tour during the same season since Espen Kofstad won twice in Italy in 2012.

Back in the Czech Republic

The Challenge Tour returns to Prague City Golf for the second edition of the Prague Golf Challenge after a successful visit 12 months ago.

Europe’s top development tour has already visited the Czech Republic for the D+D REAL Czech Challenge where Kim came out victorious in May.

Last year marked the 25thanniversary of the Challenge Tour’s first visit to the Czech Republic where Australian Lucien Tinkler won the 1992 Playboy Charity Challenge in Mariánské Lázně.

Joachim B. Hansen is on a fantastic run of form after he won his second Challenge Tour title of the season at the Made in Denmark Challenge presented by Ejner Hessel last week.

The Dane is now ranked 138thon the Official World Golf Ranking and is a total of 70 under par for all his Challenge Tour events this season.

A third victory this season will earn the 27 year old an automatic promotion to the European Tour.

Czech support

13 Czech players will take to Prague City Golf aiming to become the first golfer from the Czech Republic to claim a Challenge Tour victory on home soil.

Filip Mruzek has recorded the best result so far this season as he took a share of 14that the 56˚ Open de Portugal @ Morgado Golf Resort, and hopes will be on him to better his season’s best at the Prague Golf Challenge this week.
