Five things to know: D+D REAL Czech Challenge

The European Challenge Tour visits Czech Republic for the second time this year as Kaskáda Golf Resort host the D+D REAL Czech Challenge. Here are five things to keep an eye out for this week.

Record breaker Rozner?

Antoine Rozner is one win away from a remarkable achievement – becoming the first Challenge Tour player to win three successive Challenge Tour events in the same season. Of course, that would mean immediate promotion to the European Tour, which would also make him the fastest player to complete that feat in a single season.

The Frenchman carded a stunning back nine on the final day of the Challenge de España to win his first title of the year by four strokes, before blitzing the field in a seven shot victory the following week at the Prague Golf Challenge.

History could be in the making for the 26-year-old this week.

Czech double

The D+D REAL Czech Challenge continues the Czech double-header on the Challenge Tour, having seen the Prague Golf Challenge host the most recent event on the Challenge Tour two weeks ago.

Since 2017, Czech Republic has featured twice each season on the Challenge Tour, however, no player has been able to lift the Prague Golf Challenge and D+D REAL Czech Challenge in the same campaign.

Following his triumph two weeks ago, Rozner has the chance to write his name into the history books and reign supreme in Czech Republic once again.

Magical Minkyu

At last year’s D+D REAL Czech Challenge Minkyu Kim became the youngest winner of a European and Challenge Tour event at the age of 17 years and 64 days.

The Korean carded rounds of 67-66-69-66 for a 20 under par total and a three shot victory to break the previous youngest winning record set by Italy’s Matteo Manassero at the European Tour’s 2010 CASTELLÓ MASTERS Costa Azahar, when he was just 17 years and 188 days old.

Debut resort

Kaskáda Golf Resort will make its debut on the Challenge Tour as it hosts the eighth edition of the D+D REAL Czech Challenge.

The previous seven editions have been played at Golf & Spa Kunětická Hora, however, Kaskáda welcomes the Challenge Tour hopefuls this week.

Situated outside Brno, the second largest city in Czech Republic, the 7053-yard par 71 course will provide a new challenge to the players as it hosts a Challenge Tour event for the first time.

Grip it and rip it (and drink it)

There is more than a trophy and a winner’s cheque up for grabs this week. During Sunday’s final round, the player who drives the ball the furthest on the 495-yard par four 12th hole will be treated to a year’s supply of beer. Cheers!
