Ross Fisher has not given up hope of winning the Race to Dubai as he prepares to tee it up at the seventh Rolex Series event of the season in South Africa.
The Nedbank Golf Challenge hosted by Gary Player is the penultimate event of the European Tour season and Englishman Fisher enters it sitting in sixth place in the Race to Dubai Rankings presented by Rolex.
Fisher has a fine record in Rolex Series events so far this season, finishing in the top ten at the BMW PGA Championship, the HNA Open de France and the Italian Open.
More good performances this week at Gary Player Country Club and at next week's season-ending DP World Tour Championship, Dubai could see him better his career-best finish of fourth in the Rankings in 2009 but he is aiming higher than that - namely catching Race to Dubai leader Tommy Fleetwood.
"I just want to keep playing how I've been playing," he said. "My main objective is to try and go out and win one of these two weeks and try and improve on the Race to Dubai Rankings.
"Tommy might be that little bit too far ahead but you never know, if I play to the capabilities and what I know I'm capable of playing to I could quite easily go win-win but if I want to do that I'm going to have to play very, very well and beat two weeks of high calibre fields.
"I'm looking forward to the challenge and hopefully I can finish the season off strongly."
Spaniard Rafa Cabrera Bello finished a career-best eighth in the standings last season as he made the Ryder Cup Team and at seventh this term is on course to go even better.
A victory at the Aberdeen Asset Management Scottish Open has helped him to this point and he is now going in search of a second Rolex Series win.
I'm happy to be here, I'm exblockquoted and looking forward to the end of the season - Rafa Cabrera Bello
"I've just come off from an Asian swing finishing at the WGC-HSBC Champions where I've been pleased to be playing good golf," he said.
"I'm happy to be here, I'm excited and looking forward to the end of the season. I'm in a good position in the Race to Dubai, hopefully I can have a good couple of weeks to finish and finish in my highest position ever. I'm just happy and the game is good."
Another player looking for a career-best finish in the end-of-season shake-up is Francesco Molinari.
The Italian finished second at Wentworth and in a tie for sixth at the Italian Open and heading into the final two events of the campaign, he believes the introduction of the Rolex Series has been a brilliant success.
"I'm happy to be here," he said. "Obviously it's always a nice week, great weather, a really good golf course and a great field. So I'm looking forward to the week.
"I'm looking forward to this week and next week to try and improve my ranking. It won't be easy because there's a lot of good players up there but I have the chance to finish quite high up in the Race to Dubai. I'm going to do my best to do that.
"It (the Rolex Series) has been a great addition from not only the players' point of view but from the spectator point of view. It's been mostly very exciting weeks right to the end, to the wire. I'm sure this week and next week won't be different.
"Hopefully Justin (Rose) and Tommy will battle it out until the last few holes for the Race to Dubai."
