Ross Fisher cannot wait to tee off at the World Golf Championships - CA Championship and pick up where he left off in the United States two weeks ago.
England's Fisher goes into the second World Golf Championships event of the year at Doral having reached the semi-finals of the first one, the World Golf Championships - Accenture Match Play, at the beginning of the month.
Fisher excelled in the Arizona desert, defeating Robert Allenby of Australia and a trio of Americans in Pat Perez, Jim Furyk and Justin Leonard before his run came to an end in a close match with compatriot Paul Casey.
Now, after a week at home in Surrey, the World Number 27 is eager to make a return to competitive action.
"I'm just looking forward for the week to start," he said. "After a good week, I want to keep that momentum going.
"Unfortunately, I've had a week off but I used it to good use, went back home, did some practice, played a bit and the game's in good shape."
Fisher, 28, believes there is much to take from his week in Tucson - aside from the fourth placed cheque for US$490,000, having lost the third place match to Stewart Cink.
"It's a pretty big boost," he said. "I suppose the only negative, if you wanted to look at it that way, was that it was match play and it's kind of a little bit different.
"At the same time, it was a great week. I went in there with high expectations, I went there trying to and believing I could win and, as the week went on, I got stronger and stronger and better and better.
"It just turned out that Paul was one game too far for me. I was maybe a little bit tired and weary and some strange shots started creeping in but I fought all the way to the end and he had to birdie 17 to beat me 2 and 1.
"I took Stewart all the way to the last and he holed a bunker shot to beat me so finishing fourth in my first Match Play, playing a lot of good players and coming through some tight matches and scoring some big wins, I walked away very happy."
Fisher returns to Doral having finished in a tie for 34th place on his debut at the famous par 72, 7,266 yard Blue Monster course a year ago and looking to improve following that experience and three days of solid preparation in Florida this week.
"By Thursday I should be ready to go," he said.
"It's a long golf course and, obviously, for me that is going to hopefully play into my hands because I can drive the ball quite a long way.
"Distance is massive around here but also you've got to be very, very accurate and hit the fairway because if you get into some of this rough it can get quite nasty.
"That's a plus for me. I think last year I struggled a little bit on the greens; they're very grainy and I hadn't had much practice on those and there were three putts last year in the four rounds.
"So, this week, with the holes I will have played, the more I putt the more I'll get used to it."
