Fernandez-Castaño on the charge

Graeme Storm continued to lead the way at the KLM Open as Gonzalo Fernandez-Castaño surged up the leaderboard on the second morning.

A birdie at the third took Storm, who carded a faultless 63 yesterday, to eight under.

He was two clear of Fernandez-Castaño, who birdied his opening hole, the ninth, eagled the par five 12th and picked up another shot on 14 following a bogey at the previous hole.

Afternoon starters Fabrizio Zanotti and Raphaël Jacquelin shared third place following their opening 65s.

However, Martin Kaymer was back at four under, having recorded two bogeys either side of a birdie at 12.

That put the German alongside Ryder Cup team-mate Peter Hanson, who had yet to tee off today.

Another member of José María Olazábal’s European side, Nicolas Colsaerts, was two under for his round and the tournament, along with defending champion Simon Dyson.
