The European Tour returns to Prague after a two week hiatus for the D+D Real Czech Masters and with that sees the return of Fantasy Golf. So, without further ado, our stats guru has crunched the numbers to make three suggestions for your teams.
Favourite – Eddie Pepperell
Eddie Pepperell enters the week as favourite, which comes as no surprise as the highest-ranked player in the field.
The 28-year-old Englishman has a great record around Albatross Golf Resort, finishing inside the top ten in three of his last five starts at the D+D Real Czech Masters.
Although a winless year so far, the Englishman has had a rather steady season which has included a share of second in his title defence at the Betfred British Masters and a tied fourth finish at the Dubai Duty Free Irish Open – a Rolex Series event.
We see no reason why Pepperell – who ranks inside the top ten in putts per GIR with 1.71 (seventh), three-putt avoidance with 0.20 (third) and putts per round with 28.3 (seventh) this season – can’t live up to his headline billing this week.
Form Horse – Gavin Green
Gavin Green has been flying under the radar this season on the European Tour, but when you dive deeper into his results, you realise the American has had an excellent campaign.
In his last five starts, Green has finished inside the top ten on three occasions – tied ninth at the Dubai Duty Free Irish Open, tied eighth at the Estrella Damm N.A. Andalucía Masters hosted by the Sergio Garcia Foundation and fifth place at the Belgian Knockout.
Add in the fact that the 25-year-old finished in third in this event 12 months ago and it’s clear why we’re backing the Malaysian to deliver again.
Wildcard – Jamie Donaldson
Jamie Donaldson won the D+D Real Czech Masters when it debuted on the European Tour five years ago.
In the past year, the Welshman’s game has been showing glimpses of returning to the standard it was in 2014 when the now 43-year-old won the inaugural edition of this event and played the decisive shot which delivered victory for Europe in the The Ryder Cup at Gleneagles.
Having finished in a tie for ninth in his last outing at the Aberdeen Standard Investments Scottish Open, Donaldson could be coming into form in what is the busiest part of the season.
Those are our picks, did we do enough to convince you? Add them to your European Tour Daily Fantasy Game and your line-up in the Fantasy Race to Dubai before the action begins on Thursday.
