Alejandro Cañizares
- A dark horses but has enjoyed a wonderful 2014 season to date
- Won his second Tour title at the Trophée Hassan II recently
- Is in good form, highlighted by a tie for seventh at the Open de España last week
- Has enjoyed four top ten finishes this season, the joint most of any player so far
- Led going into the final round 12 months ago before tying for fourth place and was also tied for tenth in 2008 over the West Course
Jamie Donaldson
- Looking to become the first Welsh winner of the BMW PGA Championship since Ian Woosnam in 1997
- Although he has not won in the 2014 season he was tied second in the Nedbank Golf Challenge and WGC – Cadillac Championship
- Was tied 14th in the Masters Tournament, his last European Tour appearance
- Has made the cut in his last six BMW PGA Championships and has a best finish of tied seventh in 2011
Stephen Gallacher
- Looking to follow in the footsteps of his uncle Bernard and win the PGA Championship for the first time
- Only made the cut once in his last nine attempts and when he did he finished fourth in 2010
- Became the first player to successfully defend the Omega Dubai Desert Classic this year
- Has been in the money in all eight of his events this season
Miguel Angel Jiménez
- The man of the moment on The European Tour after breaking his own record for being the oldest winner at the Open de España, aged 50 years and 133 days
- The winner of the BMW PGA Championship in 2008
- Apart from his victory in 2008 he was third in 2006, tied fifth in 2007 and tied fourth last year, in what was just his second tournament of 2013 after sustaining a broken leg
- Is the only multiple winner of the 2014 season so far
Lee Westwood
- So often the nearly man of the Championship having finished second on two occasions: in 2000 to Colin Montgomerie and losing out in a play-off to Luke Donald in 2011
- Also been placed in the top ten a further three times, including a tie for ninth 2013
- Won in his last European Tour event at the Maybank Malaysian Open and was seventh in the Masters Tournament
- With greens in regulation at a premium around the West Course, there is no one better than the Englishman, who is playing in the Championship for the 21st time
