Fans’ favourites Andrew ‘Beef’ Johnston and Andy Sullivan will be popular additions to the eight-man line-up for the Hero Challenge under the floodlights at The Grove next Tuesday night.
Just two days before the start of the British Masters supported by Sky Sports, the pair will join tournament host Luke Donald in the field for the new, fast-paced one-hole knockout match play contest which takes place over a specially constructed par three on The Grove’s 18th hole.
Johnston has become a real fans favourite over the past 12 months, matching his popularity with his performances on the course with a maiden victory in the Open de España, while Sullivan has been swelling the ‘Sully Army’ with his own impressive displays over the past two years, winning three times and making his Ryder Cup debut at Hazeltine National last week.
The popular pair will be part of the action which will take place under floodlights on Tuesday night at 7.30pm, with the eight players competing in seven quick-fire head-to-head straight knockout matches, with the last man standing crowned champion. There will also be a special one-hole celebrity shootout featuring TV personality Piers Morgan, singer Brian McFadden and cricketers Kevin Pietersen and Shane Warne.

Johnston said: “This sounds like it is going to be a great new idea with plenty of crowd involvement, so hopefully people will come along and really get involved and we can have some fun.”
Sullivan added: “I’m really looking forward to having a go at the Hero Challenge. I think it will be something different and great fun for us as players but more importantly for the fans.”
For the professionals, the winners from the four opening round matches will progress through to two semi-finals with the subsequent two winners contesting a final head-to-head match to decide the Hero Challenge champion. If the two opponents halve the hole, the outcome of that contest will be decided by the tee shot which was nearest to the pin.
