The Azerbaijan Golf Challenge Open got off to an explosive start with a spectacular fireworks show which lit up the night sky in Quba.
Assembled players and guests were treated to a traditional Azerbaijani welcome on Wednesday night, with drummers, dancers and performers taking to the stage to mark the start of this week’s €300,000 tournament.
Anar Mamadov, President of the Azerbaijan Golf Federation and owner of The National Azerbaijan Golf Club, spoke of his pride in hosting the first professional golf tournament held in the ‘Land of Fire’, before the pyrotechnics rounded off the evening in suitably dramatic fashion.
