European Tour Weekly 622

This week The European Tour heads to the Bavarian capital of Munich for the BMW International Open. The strongest field in the twenty-two year history of the championship will be teeing up at Golfclub Munchen Eichenried headed by Ernie Els, Paul Casey, and the 2008 champion Martin Kaymer.  ETW will be on the range in Germany with the latest views from the players on the eve of the tournament.

Last year England’s Nick Dougherty held off home favourite Bernhard Langer, Retief Goosen and an inspired Rafa Echenique whose final round 62 included an albatross at the last, for an emotional win; the first since the death of his mother Ennis the previous spring. ETW catches up with the popular Liverpudlian as he sets out to become the first player to successfully defend the title.

The first of two tournament reviews this week is from the second major of the year, the 110th US Open Championship. ETW will bring you the best of the action from iconic Pebble Beach Golf Links

England’s Simon Khan just missed out qualifying for the US Open at Walton Heath, having won the BMW PGA Champion at Wentworth the day before, but the first alternate found himself heading to Pebble Beach after a spot became available. Simon talks to ETW about the turnaround in his game since he won the Qualifying School Final Sage, in December to maintain his playing privileges on tour.

ETW also looks back at the double- badged Saint-Omer Open presented by Neuflize OBC, from Northern France, which is dual ranked with the Challenge Tour.

And finally we have a special report on The Amateur Championship from Muirfield and North Berwick Golf Clubs where amateurs from 37 different countries are hoping to gain a spot in The Open Championship and next year’s  Masters Tournament as well as the prestigious 115 year old title.

Together with all of the latest news and statistics from the Tour, this completes another edition of European Tour Weekly.
