Roots will chart the stories of different European Tour stars and the unique environments in which they grew up and learned to love the game of golf. Showcasing the truly international nature and varying cultures present on the European Tour, we will hear from each player, speak to their families, friends, coaches and see the places that set them up for a shot at the very top.

In episode one, we travel to New Zealand to discover more about the remarkable sporting lineage of Ryan Fox.

Fox revisits childhood memories, talks about dealing with the weight of expectation growing up as the son of an All Blacks legend and reveals how he carved his own path to becoming a European Tour winner.

Fox, who broke through with a maiden victory on the European Tour in 2019, said: “I was excited when the European Tour approached me with the opportunity to become the first guy to be featured in the new Roots series.

“I’m very proud of my heritage in New Zealand and the sporting history on both sides of my family so it was great to be given the chance to show that and be involved in the start of an interesting new project.”

Rufus Hack, Chief Content Officer of the European Tour, added: “We are very proud of the incredible diversity we have on the European Tour. With so many different countries and cultures represented week-in week-out across The Race to Dubai, we felt a series like Roots was the perfect vehicle to showcase the great characters, their unique backgrounds and stories, and the truly global nature of our Tour.”

Stay tuned for more episodes of Roots throughout 2020.
