The European Tour has appointed search firm Odgers Berndtson – a member of the Association of Executive Search Consultants – to advise and assist on the hiring of a new Chief Executive of The European Tour, following George O’Grady’s recent announcement that he asked the Board of Directors to begin the process to appoint his successor.
The search, which is currently underway, is being led by Simon Cummins at Odgers Berndtson and will look for candidates on an international basis. The focus for the appointment will be on someone with outstanding leadership skills and a proven track record of orchestrating a dynamic programme in a diverse commercial organisation with a strong consumer focus.
David Jones, chairman of the Nominations Committee of the Board, said: “In his role as Chief Executive, George led a number of key initiatives which saw The European Tour prosper at both home and abroad as well as maintaining strong relationships with golfing bodies and fellow Tours across the globe. We therefore are conducting the search for a new Chief Executive from a very solid foundation.”
