The European Challenge Tour has withdrawn Richard Mansell from the Andalucía Challenge de Cadiz after he tested positive for COVID-19.
The Englishman, who has not exhibited any symptoms, tested negative before travelling to last week’s Andalucía Challenge de España. However, he was retested in between the two events at Iberostar Real Club de Golf Novo Sancti Petri, returning a positive result.
Mansell’s roommate Todd Clements, also of England, has been identified as a close contact. He tested negative for COVID-19 but has also been withdrawn from the tournament as a precaution.
Both players will continue to separately isolate for a period of ten days in line with the Spanish public health guidelines. They will be supported throughout that period by the Challenge Tour’s medical and event staff.
They have been replaced in this week’s Andalucía Challenge de Cadiz by Iceland’s Haraldur Magnus and Germany’s Allen John.
