ETPI launch new state-of-the-art Training & Recovery Unit at Betfred British Masters

Good preparation and recovery have long been integral for golfers, but on the DP World Tour facilities at their disposal are forever improving.

The Betfred British Masters hosted by Sir Nick Faldo marks the formal launch of the European Tour Performance Institute & Performance Unit’s (ETPI) new Training & Recovery truck.

The introduction of the new state-of-the-art mobile unit - to run alongside the Performance Unit - contains gym and recovery equipment and reflects the increasing demand for consistent, high-quality training facilities over the last decade.

The player-only facility enables ETPI staff to deliver minimum gym standards at all regular events on the Race to Dubai schedule on the DP World Tour, removing the need for the temporary pop-up gyms that have been in use over recent years.

On the most busiest days, 100 to 150 players make use of the facilities which provide 100 square metres of gym space week in week out.

Speaking at The Belfry, Health & Performance Unit Director Rob Hillman said: “We have seen in recent years an increase in the demands for good and consistent training facilities.

Speaking at The Belfry, Health & Performance Unit Director Rob Hillman said: “We have seen in recent years an increase in the demands for good and consistent training facilities.

“We have worked for a number of years with pop up gyms. We have decided to invest in the vehicle behind me to have a mobile, dedicated training gym facility.

"We also have a recovery section in there where players can chill out, work out on their mental health.

“We really wanted to have something that enables them (the players) to train week in week out with consistent and good quality equipment."
