Entries open for The Senior Open Championship Presented by Rolex

Entries are now being taken for The 2013 Senior Open Championship Presented by Rolex, which will take place at Royal Birkdale for the first time from July 25-28.

Players will be able to qualify at one of three links courses along England’s Golf Coast  – Formby, Hillside and Southport & Ainsdale – on the Monday prior to the start of the Championship (July 22).

More than 300 senior golfers are expected to compete in the Monday qualifier, vying for approximately 25-30 spots in the final field alongside some of the game’s all-time greats, including defending champion Fred Couples who claimed his first Senior Open Championship at Turnberry in July.

Meanwhile, golf fans hoping to attend the 2013 Senior Open Championship Presented by Rolex have until December 31 to take advantage of the early discounted ticket offer. Season tickets bought before the end of 2012 can be purchased for just £60 – a 25 per cent saving on the gate price, making it an ideal festive gift for family or friends.

One day tickets purchased by December 31 cost £20, a saving of £10 on the gate price, while practice day tickets are also available at the reduced price of £10. Under16s are admitted for free when accompanied by an adult and parking is also free.
