Entries for The 2022 Senior Open Presented by Rolex are now open for both exempt and non-exempt players.
Europe’s only Senior Major Championship will visit Gleneagles for the first time when The Senior Open Presented by Rolex heads to Auchterarder from July 21-24, with Welshman Stephen Dodd set to defend the title he won last year at Sunningdale Golf Club.
Non-exempt players can now enter Monday Qualifying, with three fine Scottish venues set to welcome prospective participants in four qualifying events on Monday July 18, 2022.
All 2022 Qualifying Venues are located in Scotland with Ladybank Golf Club, Fife, and Glenbervie Golf Club, Falkirk, each hosting a Qualifying Event while Blairgowrie Golf Club in Perthshire will host an event on each of its two courses – the Rosemount and the Lansdowne.
David Williams, Tournament Director of The Senior Open Presented by Rolex, said: “It is always an exciting time when we open entries for The Senior Open Presented by Rolex and this year is no different as we look ahead to our maiden visit to Gleneagles.
“We have four fantastic golf courses at three superb venues ready to welcome this year’s hopefuls and we wish each and every one of them the best of luck in trying to secure their place to compete against some of the game’s greatest ever players.”
The 2021 Qualifying events, which were hosted in the South East of England before the 2021 Championship at Sunningdale Golf Club, in addition to an overseas qualifier in the United States, welcomed 393 hopefuls across the four venues, with 525 entering in 2019 and a record 591 golfers fighting for a spot in the prestigious Championship the last time it was held in Scotland in 2018.
To be eligible for entry, players must be either male Professionals with a current Tour affiliation or PGA Membership, or male Amateurs with an exact handicap index of 0.4 (scratch) or lower under the World Handicap System, or the scheme adopted by the recognised authority controlling golf in their country.
