Els targeting back-to-back Majors

There may have been 16 different winners in the last 16 Majors, but Ernie Els still believes he can follow up his Open Championship success at the US PGA Championship this week.

The South African secured a dramatic triumph with a back nine 32 at Royal Lytham & St Annes, and now wants to draw on that stunning display at Kiawah Island for the final Major Championship of 2012.

“Obviously it's a great feeling coming in here after the Open,” he said. “I've got the Claret Jug with me at home - it's traveling with me! So it's really nice to be here as Major Champion again; it's been quite a few years.

“I've had really good preparation here this week. I’ve got a house just down the beach with the family, and I feel things are kind of back to normal.”

Els fourth Major win denied Adam Scott a first victory at this level – but the pair were reunited for a practice round on Wednesday.

“We stayed in the same hotel last week and saw him a couple of times,” added Els. “I'm actually playing nine holes with him this afternoon - I've known Adam since he's come out here ten years ago, and we have got a pretty close relationship.

“He's a good friend of the family and of mine. If he needs any help to win a Major, I'll definitely give it to him; if he needs any encouragement, I'll give it to him. He's a great friend.”
