Ernie Els stretched his lead to two during the third round of the World Golf Championships-CA Championship.
The South African opened with a 17 foot birdie putt to reach 11 under par at Doral in Miami.
Els, without a win since 2008, was two clear of Australian Robert Allenby as a result.
Another South African, Charl Schwartzel, moved into sole possession of third with a birdie at the first.
But Padraig Harrington missed from under six feet there and remained six under, five behind, after three holes. Alvaro Quiros and Søren Hansen were on the same mark, leaving eight European Tour Members in the top 11.
Among those making a move was England's Paul Casey. He birdied the third, fifth and sixth and after bogeying the next, holed from 28 feet for eagle at the long eighth.
The World Number Six, who could go second by winning, was up into a tie for seventh on six under.
