The teams of Continental Europe and Great Britain & Ireland will each be made up of the following players:
- The Captain
- The leading 4 players from the Official World Golf Ranking after the 2003 Telefonica Open de Madrid
- The leading 4 players from the Volvo Order of Merit after the 2003 Telefonica Open de Madrid
- 1 player selected by the Captain.
In the event of a top-four player in the Official World Golf Ranking also being in the top four in the Volvo Order of Merit, then the next best in the Volvo Order of Merit will qualify.
