Captain and self-confessed petrol head Miguel Angel Jimenez gave Team Europe the first scalp of the week after beating opposing captain Thongchai Jaidee in a Formula 1 simulator challenge ahead of the inaugural EurAsia Cup presented by DRB-HICOM.
With Malaysia also this weekend hosting an F1 Grand Prix, Spaniard Jimenez clocked a time three seconds better than Team Asia skipper Jaidee across a virtual version of the nearby Sepang International Circuit.
The early success prompted Jimenez, who garnered the nickname 'El Mecanico' thanks to his love of fast cars, to declare Europe "One up!"
Unmoved by his defeat, however, Jaidee blasted back in resolute fashion.
The Thai said: “Miguel got me by a few seconds on the F1 simulator but I'll get him by a few points in the Eurasia Cup!"
