Dyson on Race to Dubai mission in Russia

Simon Dyson has one thing on mind as he prepares for an assault on the M2M Russian Open - charging up the Race to Dubai Rankings to guarantee a shot in The European Tour's DP World Tour Championship, Dubai at the end of the year.

The Englishman is currently 81st in The Race to Dubai with earnings of €240,176 and reckons he needs to accumulate around €300,000 in prize money to guarantee his place in the elite top 60 that will qualify for the end of season Finale in Dubai.

Dyson, a six time winner on The European Tour, has endured a poor start season by his own extremely high standards but a return to form at the Alstom Open de France and the Aberdeen Asset Management Scottish Open has given the ebullient 34 year old a renewed sense of purpose going into the second half of the year.

"I really want to make the Tour Championship and I have eight tournaments left to try and get into that top 60," said Dyson.

"If I can continue the form that I showed in France and Scotland then I will have a good chance to do it because I have been paying really well recently and I just want to keep playing and keep that going.

"I am the kind of player who like to play as much as they can and I knew during my last long run of nine in a row that the results would come.

"I was actually shocked at how well I played in France because I have never played that well there and with six holes to play, I really had a chance to win it. G-Mac closed the tournament out well but I was really happy to finish fifth there on a very demanding golf course that I hadn't really enjoyed before.

"The next week in Scotland I was still playing well but was so tired on the Friday that I dropped a few shots and all of a sudden I was three over for the day and one over for the tournament and looking like I was going home.

"But I managed to birdie six of the last seven holes to make the cut and then had a great weekend and finished 12th. So I am hoping to continue the form this week and see where it takes us. I am looking forward to playing this golf course at Tseleevo - it is just so beautiful and has some really amazing holes."
