Dubuisson looking to utilise home advantage

Victor Dubuisson hopes to make the most of the supportive galleries at Le Golf National this week as he prepares to tee up in the Alstom Open de France.

The Frenchman has made only two cuts in five appearances in his National Open, with last year's tie for 18th his best finish.

However, winning the Turkish Airlines Open and finishing runner-up at the WGC-Accenture Match Play have boosted the 24 year old's stature since then, and the World Number 22 is among the pre-tournament favourites.

“I will enjoy when the crowd is behind me,” said Dubuisson. “Especially here, people are very nice.

“It's a lovely tournament. The course this year, the greens are fantastic and it's good to have the crowd behind me this week.”

Dubuisson is currently on course to make his debut in September's Ryder Cup at Gleneagles, and with the tournament being staged here in 2018, the Cannes-born star is eager to become a regular for Europe.

“It would be great if I qualify for the team,” he added. “The ranking, it's getting tighter. So the guys behind me are all playing very well and I still need to make some more points.

“It's the best event I think a golf player could ever play. It's like a dream.

“Having The Ryder Cup here is something big for France. A few years ago, we could never believe The Ryder Cup could be in France.”

Dubuisson is not the only home favourite looking to impress this week, with Volvo China Open winner Alex Levy looking to follow up on his maiden European Tour victory.

“It's nice for me to play in my National Open,” said Levy. “It's an amazing golf course.

“It's great to play with the French crowd and I hope it will be a good week for me.

“I'm happy my family will be here and my friends. I enjoy this week, but there is not too much pressure for me because it's in France.

“I feel good, my long game is better, and I hope it will be good for this week.”
