Dubuisson keen to make his mark

Frenchman Victor Dubuisson hopes to have put himself in a position to make an impact on the final day of The Open Championship at Hoylake.

Dubuisson holed six birdies in a third round 68 at Royal Liverpool to shoot up the leaderboard.

The 24 year old might still need slip-ups from the leaders to genuinely challenge for the title but, playing just his fourth Major, he has certainly made an impression.

Dubuisson, who won his maiden European Tour title at the Turkish Airlines Open before reaching the final of the WGC-Accenture Match Play in February, said: "It was a great round because I started with a bogey on the second hole but then I had some great birdie opportunities and my putting was good. I am very pleased.

"It is always better to be at the top of the leaderboard than down. Tomorrow I will try to do my best and if the putts go in it can be a good day."

Dubuisson felt he took advantage of good scoring conditions throughout his round.

He said: "I think that is why most of the players shot under par today.

"It was a little bit softer, although the pin positions were trickier."
