Dubuisson hopeful of more Turkish delight

Victor Dubuisson does not expect a change of venue to affect his chances when he begins the defence of his Turkish Airlines Open title on Thursday.

The Frenchman won the inaugural event in 2013 and then repeated the feat last season, meaning both of his European Tour wins had come over The Montgomerie Maxx Royal layout.

This year, the event moves just west along the Turkish coast to the stunning Regnum Carya Golf & Spa Resort with its innovative rooftop tee on the 16th hole.

With plenty of trees to contend with, accuracy off the tee is likely to be the order of the day if Dubuisson is to make it a Turkish hat-trick, and he feels comfortable in new but familiar feeling surroundings.

"I'm very excited," he said. "This has been a great week for me the last few years and I hope I will have a good result again. It's not the same course but it's very similar.

"I've had two really good weeks during this tournament, maybe the putting was better and I just hope to do well again this week.

"The greens are really good, they're very fast. The course is very similar to the one we played before with the trees and a little bit of water. It's a good course."

Dubuisson has been limited to 14 appearances this season with two of those ending in withdrawal as he has struggled with injury, and his best result was a tie for fourth at the Nedbank Golf Challenge.

Sitting 71st in the Race to Dubai, it has not been the best of seasons by the 26 year old's very high standards but he is looking forward to the Final Series and is aiming to bounce back in 2017.

"It's something I've been waiting for for a long time," he said. "It's the more exciting things of the year.

"I just didn't play well but I hope to do better next year."
