The BMW International Open marked the start of its 20th anniversary celebrations with a drive into history as a host of star players drove through the heart of Munich in BMW classic convertibles to the new BMW Museum.
The professionals enjoyed an exclusive glimpse into the history of the automobile at the BMW Museum, which officially opened on Thursday 19th June after a three-year renovation programme, before heading on to the traditional Draw Party at the Doppelkegel (‘Double Cone’) at BMW Welt.
Enjoying the rare pleasure of driving one of the most stunning BMW convertibles were Germany’s Bernhard Langer and Alex Cejka, BMW International Open defending champion Niclas Fasth and fellow Swede Henrik Stenson, and BMW PGA Champion Miguel Ángel Jiménez of Spain. South Africa’s Retief Goosen, Englishmen David Howell and Paul Casey and Northern Ireland’s Rory McIlroy acted as navigators, taking care of the route planning.
