Wales’ Bradley Dredge joined England’s David Horsey and Scotland’s Marc Warren at the top of the NH Collection Open leaderboard after the completion of a delayed second round in Spain.
Horsey and Warren were level on five under par at the end of the second day, with Dredge a shot back alongside Chile’s Felipe Aguilar and Adrian Otaegui of Spain.
While Horsey today finished off his round with pars, Dredge picked up a shot to make it a three-way tie for the lead.
Warren yesterday went round in 67 to be clubhouse leader, and was caught by Horsey by the time play was called off for the evening.
It resumed at 9am today and Horsey, who started with two bogeys but then fired six birdies yesterday, carded a creditable 68.
He said: “Yesterday I got off to a shaky start. It’s always difficult when you tee off at half four in the afternoon; you don’t really know what to do with your day, so I had a poor start.
“I played really nicely after that and was a little disappointed that we had to come off, but I managed to finish the round off this morning which puts me in a good position going into the weekend.
“Looking at the conditions we will probably have more of the same, blustery with no rain, so the scoring will probably go lower.
“It was tough to hole putts the first day but it seems a lot more playable now, so I expect an exciting weekend with more birdies."
Dredge, who went round in 69, said: “The first two days have been a challenge with the wind and heavy rain showers on the first day.
“The course withstood the rain very well, so the challenge then was judging the wind with some tricky greens; it’s been a good challenge for the guys.
“It was a little bit easier the second day, and this morning the wind wasn’t quite as strong, so conditions are improving as the tournament progresses.
“This morning I did ok, you always want to do better, but I was one under finishing off and I’ll take that. I’m in a good position half way through, so a long way to go yet.
“The forecast is for the wind to slow down, so I expect lower scoring over the weekend; someone is going to shoot some good figures, probably double figures.”
Aguilar and Otaegui are shot behind the leading trio, two strokes ahead of American John Hahn who is alone in sixth.
