Course specialists shine again in Dubai

Jon Rahm and Matt Fitzpatrick both absolutely love playing on the Earth Course, with the duo having each won this event twice before. They are first and second on the leaderboard heading into Sunday's final round as they bid to make it a hat-trick of wins here. Rahm leads on 15 under par after firing a flawless 65 on day three, with Fitzpatrick just one shot behind. The Englishman is going for glory on two fronts, with his first Harry Vardon Trophy in his sights. But more on that later...

Kitayama's sensational start

Having missed the fairway a long way left at the first, Kurt Kitayama manufactured a stunning shot from the rough to give himself a five-foot birdie putt, which he duly converted. He then steered this extremely tricky eagle putt into the hole at the second from around 20 feet for a three-three start.

Magic from McIlroy

Rory McIlroy went into Moving Day looking to build on Friday's birdie-birdie-eagle finish, and he produced yet more exhibition golf in the third round. Having made an impressive eagle at the second, the World Number One sent his approaches at the eighth and ninth to within two feet for tap-in birdies there, with this one at the eighth almost pitching in the hole!

He made an eagle, seven birdies and two bogeys in his 65 to climb to 12 under par.

European Number One fight going down to the wire

McIlroy and Fitzpatrick are not just fighting for the DP World Tour Championship trophy on Sunday - they also have the DP World Tour Rankings in Partnership with Rolex to think about. McIlroy had been the man to catch coming into this week's season finale but found himself trailing Fitzpatrick in the projected standings at the halfway stage. He returned to the top on Saturday but Fitzpatrick could yet leapfrog him in the final round. Victory on Sunday would be enough for Fitzpatrick if McIlroy finishes worse than second. A runner-up finish could also see him achieve the feat, but he would need McIlroy to finish worse than seventh.

Meronk focusing on his own game

Adrian Meronk heads into the final round in a tie for sixth after a brilliant 65 on Saturday. The 2022 Horizon Irish Open winner is in great company, with some of the world's best players around him on the leaderboard, but he is not thinking about anyone else. He said: "Trying not to look, just trying to focus on my game. Had a great year this year, the best of my career. So just want to finish it off tomorrow and have a good finish to the season."
