Dormy Open: Tournament Guide

The European Challenge Tour heads to Sweden this week for the Dormy Open. Here is everything you need to know ahead of the action beginning on Thursday.

Askersund GC

Askersunds debut

The Dormy Open returns for the third consecutive year with a new challenge ahead as Askersunds Golfklubb in Åmmeberg plays host for the first time.

The par five 16th – which runs alongside Lake Vättern – has been named as one of Sweden’s top 100 golf holes by the Svensk Golf magazine.

The event has moved on from its previous host, Österåkers Golfklubb, which saw Félix Mory of France emerge victorious in 2021 followed by Emilio Cuartero Blanco of Spain in 2022.

Swedish homecoming

Locals will be delighted to see Adam Blomme fly the Swedish flag proud this week as he looks to climb into the top 5 of the Road to Mallorca Rankings.

The 27-year-old home hope, who has already finished second and third so far this season, currently sits seventh with 790.40 points (fifth place 900.7).

Jesper Svensson will also be playing on home soil, with the aim of adding a second Challenge Tour title to his name this campaign. He won his maiden title at the B-NL Challenge back in May in the Netherlands.

Eight to go

The Dormy Open is the first of eight remaining events before the season reaches a climax at the Rolex Challenge Tour Grand Final supported by the R&A in early November.

Casey Jarvis remains top of the rankings with Alex Fitzpatrick, Ugo Coussaud and Matteo Manassero leading the chase.

With only 45 players making the cut for the Grand Final in Spain, the likes of Alfie Plant, Pieter Mollman and Tom Lewis are bidding to force their way inside the cut off.
