The Rolex Series event returns to the Renaissance Club in East Lothian from July 11-14, and will welcome stars including defending champion Rory McIlroy, Major winners Wyndham Clark, Matt Fitzpatrick, Collin Morikawa, Justin Rose, Xander Schauffele and Justin Thomas, home hero Robert MacIntyre and his fellow European Ryder Cup players Ludvig Åberg, Tommy Fleetwood, Nicolai Højgaard and Viktor Hovland, and rising Korean star Tom Kim.

Victorious 2023 Ryder Cup Captain Donald – the winner of Scotland’s national open in 2011 – joins a host of the European stars who claimed the trophy in Rome when he tees it up once again at Renaissance Club in July.

The former World Number One will also lead Team Europe at the 2025 Ryder Cup at Bethpage Black in New York, as Europe’s first repeat Captain since Bernard Gallacher performed the role in three consecutive Ryder Cups, in 1991, 1993 and 1995.

Donald said: “This has been a special tournament for me since I lifted the trophy in Inverness back in 2011, and I’m looking forward to returning to the Renaissance Club this summer. The Scottish fans are very knowledgeable and welcoming, and the tournament has become bigger and better over the years, so it’s always a highlight on my schedule.”

Reigning Open Champion Harman sealed his maiden Major title at Royal Liverpool Golf Club last July amidst a stellar season which also included his Ryder Cup debut for Team USA in Rome.

The three-time PGA TOUR winner returns for a third consecutive appearance at the Genesis Scottish Open, before defending the Claret Jug the following week

Harman said: “I teed it up in the Genesis Scottish Open the week before winning the Open last season, and it was a very valuable experience for me. This is an incredible tournament in its own right and I would love to lift the trophy at the Renaissance Club to start off an exciting two weeks in Scotland this July.”

Matsuyama made history in 2021 when he won the Masters Tournament to become the first male Japanese Major Champion - ten years after finishing as low amateur on his debut at Augusta National.

The most successful Japanese PGA TOUR member of all time secured the most recent of his 18 worldwide victories at the Genesis Invitational in February. He is aiming to continue a rich vein of form for Japanese players on the DP World Tour, when he makes his third appearance in Scotland’s national open, following victories for Rikuya Hoshino, Keita Nakajima and Yuto Katsuragawa already this season.

Matsuyama said: “I am excited to return to the Renaissance Club and the Genesis Scottish Open in July. I am aiming to continue my own good form and add to the run of success for players from Japan this season.”

The Genesis Scottish Open is co-sanctioned by the DP World Tour and PGA TOUR, counting on both the Race to Dubai Rankings in Partnership with Rolex and the FedExCup, and boasts Genesis, the luxury automotive brand from South Korea, as title sponsor. Genesis title-sponsor two tournaments on the PGA TOUR’s 2024 schedule, with the Genesis Scottish Open following February’s Genesis Invitational – won by Matsuyama - at The Riviera Country Club.

The tournament benefits from the continued commitment of the Scottish Government, managed by VisitScotland, and retains its place in golf’s global calendar the week ahead of The Open as part of these agreements through to 2025.

The entertainment outside the ropes at this year’s event includes the new Fringe by the Tee pop up stage – in partnership with award-winning festival Fringe by the Sea – in the Fan Zone. For more information visit www.fringebythesea.com/fringebythetee
