Ryder Cup Captain Luke Donald will return to the Betfred British Masters hosted by Sir Nick Faldo for the first time in six years from August 29 – September 1, 2024.
The former World Number One is a long-time supporter of the British Masters, having hosted the event in 2016, and will tee it up at The Belfry for the first time in his 23-year professional career later this year. Tickets are available to purchase here, with General Admission, Ticket+ and Premium Experiences selling fast.
The seven-time DP World Tour winner and former World Number One etched his name into European golfing folklore last year when he led Team Europe to a memorable Ryder Cup victory at Marco Simone Golf & Country Club.
His success and widespread popularity saw the 46-year-old Englishman sworn in for a second term as Ryder Cup Captain earlier this year and work is already under way as he bids to become only the second Captain to lead Europe to victories both home and away, after Tony Jacklin in 1985 and 1987.
Donald, whose last DP World Tour appearance came at the Soudal Open last week, is now well-versed in juggling his Captain’s duties with his playing schedule and is looking forward to competing at The Belfry.
“Given how many events I have played over the years, it is quite incredible I’ve never competed at The Belfry so I’m really looking forward to the Betfred British Masters,” he said.
“The Belfry is synonymous with British golf and has witnessed so many memorable moments over the years. It is one of the most iconic venues in Britain and with the field shaping up nicely, it should be a great week.
“I’m a little bit older now but I still love competing and trying to beat some of these great young players. I’m looking forward to seeing everyone at The Belfry in August.”
Donald will be joined by fellow former host and 2016 Masters Champion Danny Willett, as well as highly-rated amateur Kris Kim in the field at The Belfry.
The Betfred British Masters hosted by Sir Nick Faldo will be the DP World Tour’s 21st event held at The Belfry. The first tournament played at the Sutton Coldfield venue was the Lada English Golf Classic, won by the late, great Seve Ballesteros.
The Tour made a return to The Belfry after a 13-year absence in 2020, with the venue hosting a tournament each year since.
