Ding on course for 2025 DP World Tour exemption

China’s Wenyi Ding is closing in on a DP World Tour card for 2025 following his victory in the Asia Pacific Amateur Championship.

The 19-year-old recorded four rounds of 67 to claim the prestigious title at Taiheiyo Club Gotemba in Japan and extended his lead over Amateur Champion Jacob Skov Olesen to 142 points in the penultimate week of the Global Amateur Pathway Ranking period. See the updated Ranking here.

Dane Olesen, Luis Masaveu Roncal of Spain and Frenchman Bastian Amat are currently in positions two to four in the Global Amateur Pathway Ranking and in line for the European Challenge Tour exemptions available to European and Middle Eastern players.

Nathan Petronzio and Peter Fountain are the current leading American players and remain in contention for PGA TOUR Americas eligibility, with South African Tyran Snyders set for a Sunshine Tour card.

The Global Amateur Pathway – powered by the World Amateur Golf Ranking® (WAGR®) - creates a pathway for non-collegiate amateur players on to the DP World Tour and partner Tours around the world.

The Global Amateur Pathway complements PGA TOUR University – which awards membership on PGA TOUR-sanctioned Tours to the top Division-I college golfers at the end of the NCAA Championship – to ensure opportunities are available for elite players across the amateur ranks.

The first Global Amateur Pathway Ranking Period will conclude on 13 October 2024, with an updated Ranking published by Friday each week.
