The first two Qatar Masters, in 1998 and 1999 were both won by Scottish golfers- Andrew Coltart (1998) and Paul Lawrie (1999).

Scottish players have a wonderful tradition of producing winners on The European Tour. Here is a list of Scots and the number of tournaments they have won since 1972:

The 2004 winner, Sweden’s Joakim Haeggman matched the tournament record for the biggest final day winning comeback – two shots, first created by Adam Scott in 2002. Courtesy of a final round 65 (-7), Haeggman won by one shot from Japan’s Nobuhito Sato.

The biggest final round comeback by a winner in European Tour history is ten shots. They are:

Jamie Spence at the 1992 Canon European Masters - Spence won in a play-off against Anders Forsbrand of Sweden

Paul Lawrie at the 128th Open Championship in 1999 - Lawrie won in a play-off against Justin Leonard and Jean van de Velde.
