• In winning last year, Ross McGowan created a new European Tour record for the lowest opening 54 holes to par at minus 24.

• Other European Tour records in 2009 equalled were by McGowan and Mikko Ilonen. The duo matched the record for lowest 36 holes to par  (rounds two and three) on 18 under par. Ilonen then claimed a share of the record of low 54 holes (rounds two, three and four) and low 54 holes to par (rounds two, three and four), on 192.

•  The RSHECC – Real Sociedad Hipica Sociedad Club de Campo was opened in 1997 but has a history going back to 1901 when the Real Sociedad Hipica Sociedad and the Club de Campo Villa de Madrid were the same club until 1983.

• Spain have enjoyed a wonderful 2010 season, with wins by Pablo Martin (Alfred Dunhill Championship), Miguel Angel Jiménez (Omega Dubai Desert Classic) and Alavro Quiros (Open de España). Spain are second in the all-time list of most victories on The European Tour, behind England, with 153.
