Mathieu Decottignies-Lafon will return to the European Challenge Tour in 2022 after topping the Pro Golf Tour’s Order of Merit in 2021.
The 28-year-old enjoyed a fantastic season on the Pro Golf Tour with two victories at the Wolf Golf Open in Germany and NewGiza Pyramids Challenge in Egypt, in addition to two further top three finishes to climb to the top of the Rankings and follow in the footsteps of two-time Major winner Martin Kaymer who won the Pro Golf Tour Order of Merit in 2006.
Decottignies-Lafon received three invitations to play on the Challenge Tour in 2021 and impressed on home soil at the Hopps Open de Provence, recording a top-15 finish as Englishman Alfie Plant secured his maiden Challenge Tour title.
The Frenchman will be joined on the Challenge Tour in 2022 by fellow Pro Golf Tour graduates Robert Foley of Switzerland, German duo Nick Bachem and Timo Vahlenkamp and Portugal’s Tomas Gouveia, whose older brother Ricardo is a five-time Challenge Tour winner and finished second on the 2021 Road to Mallorca Rankings to graduate to the DP World Tour.
Foley picked up victory in the Raiffeisen Pro Golf Tour St. Pölten and recorded two second place finishes in just nine starts in 2021 as he finished second on the Order of Merit, while Bachem triumphed at the Gradi Polish Open by Emeralld and Red Sea Ain Sokhna Classic as he finished third.
