Everything you need to know from day two at Muthaiga Golf Club.
Sharma shone brightest, Njoroge announced himself, Guido got some luck and Burmy was brilliant from the bunker in the second round of the 2022 Magical Kenya Open presented by Absa.
Here is everything you need to know from Friday in Nairobi.
Sharma gets his nose in front
Shubhankar Sharma birdied three of his last four holes to take a one-shot lead into the weekend. The Indian carded a 67 to get to 10 under and lead the way from Scot Ewen Ferguson and Japan's Masahiro Kawamura. Sharma claimed his first DP World Tour victory at the Joburg Open in the 2018 season and revealed he was feeling comfortable playing at altitude. "My first win came in Joburg which was also at altitude so I have good memories from playing at places where the golf course is at a height and that is definitely helping," he said. "I’m very pleased with what I’ve done over the past few days.”
Kibugu makes his mark
Teenage amateur Njoroge Kibugu delighted the home crowds as he finished round two birdie-eagle to put himself right in contention heading into the weekend. The 18-year-old is a member at Muthaiga Golf Club and he made all that local knowledge count as a bogey-free 66 moved him to six under on home soil. He is making just his second DP World Tour appearance after missing the cut at last season's Kenya Savannah Classic supported by Absa but he will be playing the weekend this time around and is certain to take plenty of support with him. "I feel it," he said. "It's everywhere, it's amazing, I appreciate it. I'm grateful for one and I'm ready to go out there and fight. Just enjoying the moment, being in the moment and staying in the moment."
Kenya kind to Guido again
Guido Migliozzi won his first DP World Tour title at this event three years ago but we don't think he got a bounce like this that week. What a break.
