Is it Detry's time?

Thomas Detry has been on the verge of a maiden European Tour victory for what feels like a very long time. With 13 top tens from 84 European Tour events - and two in his last four - the Belgian is in fine form to finally get one over the line. He fired a 67 on Saturday to share the lead but does not appear to be feeling the pressure. "I've been in this position a few times," he said. "Was in this position three weeks ago in Sun City at a big event. A few weeks before at the French Open gave myself a chance to win. I've got some experience in this domain so let's just play our own game and have fun like we have the last three days."

Rookies finding their feet in style

Antoine Rozner and Calum Hill had both effectively sealed their European Tour cards by mid summer on the European Challenge Tour and they're looking to get next season's playing privileges locked up even earlier. The duo had both won twice by August in the 2019 season and will now share the lead with Detry heading into the final round in Mauritius as they too look for first European Tour wins. "I’m really looking forward to tomorrow and hopefully I'll get that win," said Rozner. "It’s a packed leaderboard but a victory tomorrow would be a huge accomplishment."

Højgaard hitting the heights

Rasmus Højgaard is just 18 years old and playing in only his fifth European Tour event but you would not know it from listening to him. He is used to dealing with pressure after winning the Eisenhower Trophy and playing in the Junior Ryder Cup in 2018 alongside identical twin brother Nicolai and he heads into Sunday just one shot off the lead. "I'm looking forward to tomorrow," he said. "It's been a while since I've been in contention for a tournament so I'm looking forward to the nerves and the adrenaline." Confident words from the Qualifying School graduate who has American Sihwan Kim for company at 15 under.

Renato registers a clean card

Renato Paratore went bogey free on Saturday. That does not seem like a big statement for a player of his quality until you realise his last bogey free effort was 48 rounds ago at the Aberdeen Standard Investments Scottish Open. "I'm very happy with the round today, I played really solid," he said. "I missed some short putts from two metres but I played the par fives solid so I made a lot of birdies. The long game is good but in general this week everything has been consistent. The objective today was to get a good round to be in position for tomorrow. I'm happy with that, so we'll see tomorrow." He heads into Sunday two off the lead.
