Thorbjørn produced a brilliant finish, while Marcus drew applause from the home crowds as Chase is the latest Challenge Tour Graduate to impress on day three of the 2022 Betfred British Masters hosted by Danny Willett.

Here is everything you need to know from Moving Day at The Belfry.

Olesen seizes command with eagle-birdie finish

Thorbjørn Olesen emerged from a crowded leaderboard with an eagle-birdie finish on the Brabazon Course to take a three-shot lead into the final round. He was two shots off the lead after a bogey – his second of the day – at the reachable par-four tenth but finished in style to seize the initiative late on in the third round. The Dane, who played in Europe’s winning Ryder Cup team at Le Golf National in 2018, is aiming to win a sixth DP World Tour and first since the 2018 Italian Open. "I know how hard it is to win out here, it never comes easy so that is important [knowledge]. My attitude today was really good. If I can keep staying aggressive and not worrying too much, then that is very important. It is always really difficult to win, you have to go out there and get it."

The tournament leader also produced the shot of the day at the par-four fifth. From the right rough, the Dane holed his second shot from 120 yards to great applause from the spectators around the green. It was one of two eagles on the day – as many as he has managed so far this season. Watch the video below to see the shot and his jubilant reaction alongside his caddie.

Armitage loving home crowd support

Playing alongside tournament host Danny Willett, Marcus Armitage revelled in the chance to impress in front of big galleries. The Englishman, who won his maiden DP World Tour title at the Porsche European Open last year, shot a two under 70 to stay in the hunt for victory on home soil. After a one under 35 on the front nine, he recovered from a bogey at the 12th to make back-to-back birdies at the 15th and 16th. And after finding trouble off the tee at the last, Armitage holed a 32 foot par putt in front of the watching fans to ensure he would start the final round in the final pairing.

Meanwhile, earlier on in the day, Armitage saw the funny side of some geese interrupting his pre-shot routine!

Flawless Hanna the latest Challenge Tour Graduate to shine

After Germany’s Hurly Long impressed on day two, there was another Challenge Tour Graduate to shine in the third round. Starting the day at one under and eight shots back of the halfway lead, American Chase Hanna moved into contention with a blemish-free six-under-par 66 – the best round of the day. Three birdies on both nines, including gains at each of the three par-five holes left the 27-year-old, who was runner-up at the Commercial Bank Qatar Masters in March, four shots back going into the final round.

Arnaus enjoying great spell

Adri Arnaus won his maiden DP World Tour title after emerged victorious following a six-hole play-off at the Catalunya Championship last week. The 27-year-old Spaniard, who also has three top 10s so far this season, has brought that confidence with him to The Belfry this week and sits six shots back of Olesen after a third-round 69, which featured a chip-in eagle from just off the green at the par-five 17th. He’ll need to go low on Sunday if he is to make it back-to-back wins.
