Jordan jumped ahead, Horsey was coming up the rail, Brendan was brilliant.....again, and Emma had a "weird" day in round three of the 2021 ISPS HANDA World Invitational presented by Modest! Golf Management.

Smith v Horsey showdown

Jordan Smith loves Galgorm Castle Golf Club. He made it 36 bogey free holes over the layout to get to 15 under and move into a one shot lead over David Horsey. As for Horsey, he may have dropped his only shot of the week in round three but he still went one better than Smith with a 64 as both men putted the lights out in Northern Ireland. "Today we didn't do too much wrong at all, the putter saved me quite a few times so hopefully it can do that tomorrow if needed to," said Smith. "I made some changes at the end of last year. There's been a lot of work and a lot of getting used to it so it's nice to see it paying off." Horsey added: "I didn't play great to be honest. Didn't hit it in the fairway enough the back nine but holed some nice putts and that's what you've got to do. I get on well with Smithy and it was nice to see both of us making plenty of birdies, which is nice." The pleasantries may be put on pause on Sunday.

Things get weird for Talley

We can forgive Emma Talley for finding things a bit strange during her round on Saturday. There are plenty of players who have their partner as their caddie but Talley was facing the proposition of her boyfriend Patrick caddying for playing partner Jennifer Kupcho. The 27-year-old had spoken of how she was looking forward to the experience but it did not work out as she had hoped. "It was weird," she said. "I honestly didn't like it. Now I know what to expect so I feel a lot better about doing it tomorrow. Today honestly threw me off." The American should therefore get great credit for recovering from a double bogey on the ninth to sign for a level par 73 and stay in a share of the lead at 13 under with Kupcho and Pajaree Anannarukarn. The women's event could go right to the wire.

Lawlor dominates his own event

The European Disabled Golf Association (EDGA) was back on the European Tour for the second of four consecutive weeks and once again Brendan Lawlor was at the head of the field. A week after winning the EDGA Cazoo Open, the Irishman was leading the event that bears his name - the ISPS HANDA World Disability Invitational presented by Brendan Lawlor - after 18 holes. He made a single bogey in a 69 to sit at three under and lead by four shots from American Ryan Brendan.

Van Driel is looking to pay the bills

To be a professional golfer there is no question that you have to love the game - but it is also the way you make your living. Financially Darius van Driel is already enjoying his most successful European Tour season but a win this week would easily represent his biggest pay day. A 65 on day three put him right in the mix at ten under and while he would love to lift the trophy, the cheque would come in handy too. "I just bought a house last week," he said. "So obviously I'm very excited to be in this position and I'm going to do my best tomorrow to get the best out of it and at the end you'll see where you finish." These guys are just like the rest of us, really.

Hillier climbs back up

Overnight leader Daniel Hillier turned in three over and needed something special on the back nine to keep himself in touch. Something like this.
