Wallace put his best foot forward, a couple of challengers fought the cold together and the putting was bordering on the ridiculous on day three of the Scottish Championship presented by AXA.

Wallace makes his moves then shows his grooves

Matt Wallace has been sensational this week, dropping just a single shot over the first two days to get into a share of the lead and then carrying that form into Moving Day. His bogey free 66 on day three saw him get to 18 under and sit three shots ahead of nearest challenger Garrick Porteous with 18 holes to go. The highlight of his round was a spectacular chip-in on the 17th that prompted this celebration.

The snood dudes

It gets cold in Scotland in October but luckily Porteous and playing partner Sean Crocker were prepared, keeping their noses warm with a fetching pair of snoods. It did them no harm as both men sit in the top five. Tyrrell Hatton's hoodies have some competition.

Crocker's problem-free philosophy

Inspiration comes from many sources. For Crocker, it comes from The Lion King. "Simba has just been my favourite cartoon character," he said. "It's kind of always been my thing, I've always fell in love with Simba and then one of my favourite rappers made a lyrical quote about Simba. The line is 'feeling like young Simba, just waiting to be king'. It's always stuck with me since I've heard it, it's been one of my favourite things. I usually have a logo with Simba on my ball but we switched balls to a new one this week so I don't have it. I kind of regret it but I do actually have a little tattoo of the same logo right here on my side." Regret it Sean? But it doesn't matter, it's in the past!

Heckling the skipper?

Like all European players, we're sure that Paul Waring has ambitions to play in the Ryder Cup, so is heckling the man who has the power to make your dreams come true the best idea? When Padraig Harrington holed a very long putt from off the green for an eagle at the seventh, playing partner Waring called him "lucky and good". Of course, the Liverpudlian and Harrington are both known for their jovial nature and with the three time Major Champion clearly enjoying the fun, we don't think Waring will have done his chances any harm.

Miles of putts

Harrington wasn't the only one holing monsters. Marc Warren holed a long putt on the same hole and then Adrian Otaegui and Adrien Saddier did this on the back nine. It must be contagious.

Meronk makes a splash

Take a drop? Not a chance. There was full commitment from Adrian Meronk as he played this shot on the 12th. And he made his par. Bravo, sir.
