The first day at GolfSixes provided 24 enthralling matches, with plenty of birdies and eagles on display. 16 teams started the day but only eight will tee it up in tomorrow's knockout stages in search of the first ever GolfSixes crown. Below is a look at some of the best facts and figures from Saturday's group matches.
68- Joint highest 18 hole score today, by Australia and Wales. Amazingly, Australia still made it through the knockout stage thanks to a 20 foot birdie putt by Scott Hend on the final green.
61- Lowest total score of the day by both Scotland and Thailand.
+7- The best hole difference of any team, courtesy of the Portuguese team. Despite losing their final match one nil, Gouveia and Lima won each of the opening two matches by a score of four to zero.
8- Holes won by Portugal in the group stages, more than anyone else.
2- Holes won by Denmark all day, the fewest of any team. However, Olesen and Bjerregaard were unbeaten, halving their two opening encounters before beating India in their final match.
3- Eagles for the Scots on the opening day, two more than any other team.
10- Three teams made ten or more birdies today. France made ten whilst Thailand and Portugal both made 11.
14- Birdie chances inside 15 feet for both USA and South Africa. However, both teams failed to make it to the quarter-finals.
17- Four teams hit 17 of 18 greens in regulation: Thailand, Portugal, Spain and Italy.
15- Tee shots of S Chikkarangappa were used in the Greensomes format by Team India today. Three more than anyone else in the field.
