Day four digest: WGC-Dell Technologies Match Play

There was plenty of drama as the knockout stages began and there were just four men left standing after day four of the 2021 WGC-Dell Technologies Match Play.

Here is everything you need to know from Saturday in Texas.

And then there were four......

We started the week with 64 players and by Friday night were down to 16. Now we are down to four as Victor Perez, Billy Horschel, Scottie Scheffler and Matt Kuchar battle it out on Sunday to be crowned champion. Incredibly, the highest seed left in the event is Scheffler at 30, with Perez at 31, Horschel at 32 and Kuchar at 52. Perez is making his debut this week and he was arguably the most impressive player on Saturday, taking down Robert MacIntyre 5&4 and then match play great Sergio Garcia 4&3. He will now be looking to go one better than countryman Victor Dubuisson, who lost an incredible final to Jason Day on the 23rd hole in 2014. "It gave us the belief that it was possible back then and obviously I'm very pleased to be where I am today," he said. Allez Les Bleus!

Sergio Garcia made a spectacular ace on the fourth on day three and less than 24 hours later Tommy Fleetwood did this.

The driveable 13th had produced some great drama with players both finding the green and the water. In the last 16, Garcia was very much about the green.

But in the match behind, Robert MacIntyre - who eagled the 18th after driving to three feet on Friday - was not in the mood to be outdone.

Of course, neither of those matched Sergio on Thursday.

Harman's hot streak

Brian Harman was four down after five in the last 16 against Bubba Watson and was odds-on to be heading home. His response was to make eight birdies in a row and put himself three up before claiming a 2&1 victory. That is impressive.

Call in the cavalry

Matt Kuchar was all square with Jordan Spieth on the 16th in the last 16 so the very last thing he needed was a lost ball. The American roped in the fans, his ball was found and he made his par, going on to beat Spieth on the last. If you don't ask, you don't get.
