Here is everything you need to know from the final round at Halmstad Golf Club.

History is made

It was a day to remember for Linn Grant as the 22-year-old Swede completed a sensational performance all week to outperform her male counterparts and become the first female winner on the DP World Tour. Grant, who only turned professional late last year, came into the tournament ranked 156th on the Women’s World Golf Rankings. Holding an overnight two-shot lead over Australia’s Jason Scrivener, she closed out the week with a fearless eight-under 64 to claim a nine-stroke victory. She did so with the support of her parents in the crowds and with her boyfriend Pontus Samuelsson as her caddie.

Quite simply the best

It is almost inevitable there would have been some nerves going into the final round with history on the line, but Grant never looked flustered. She began her final round with back-to-back birdies to quickly extend her lead at the top of the leaderboard, before setting up another with this tee shot at the par-three fourth…

The home favourite put on a show for the cheerful crowds with three further birdies, before she picked up more shots at the 10th, 11th, and 14th to get to 24 under par and win by the biggest margin on the DP World Tour so far this season.

From one champion to another

“What a performance”. The achievement by Grant was not lost on Annika Sörenstam, widely regarded as one of the best female golfers in history. The ten-time Major winner played alongside Grant for the first two days and was watching greenside at the 18th as her compatriot closed out a dominant victory.

In six starts on the Ladies European Tour this year Grant has now won three times and Sörenstam reflected on a great story as the men’s and women’s game shared the same stage.

"This shows that we can play against each other in a fair competition,” Sörenstam said. “I hope people see the quality of women's golf."

Henrik’s great finish

Tournament co-host Henrik Stenson birdied the final two holes to card a closing two-under 70 and share second place alongside Scotland’s Marc Warren, who earlier produced a birdie-birdie finish of his own to shoot an excellent 65. European Ryder Cup captain Stenson thrilled his home fans all week and was delighted the second edition of the Volvo Car Scandinavian Mixed had proved another great success.

“The crowds have enjoyed themselves,” he said. “I think the players have enjoyed themselves. Big thanks to everyone at Halmstad Golf Club. It’s been a fun week, especially for the Swedes playing in front of home crowds.”

Langasque’s bunker hole-out

With Grant peerless throughout on the final day, the rest of the chasing pack were left to battle to finish as high as they could on the leaderboard. One player whoenjoyed a good closing round was Romain Langasque. The Frenchman made four birdies in his opening seven holes, including an unlikely hole-out from a greenside bunker at the par-three seventh on his way to a 68.
