D+D REAL Czech Masters - Day three digest

Jesper Svensson and David Ravetto bombed their way to the leading positions and Beef enjoyed his dinner on day three of the 2024 D+D REAL Czech Masters.

Here is everything you need to know from Saturday at PGA National OAKS Prague.

Going long

Leading pair Jesper Svensson and David Ravetto both produced astonishing blows on an afternoon when the course had been softened by the storms which brought about a three-hour delay. Svensson ended the day one shot ahead on 16 under but while his 68 featured four birdies, the highlight was arguably his par at the 16th after finding trees off the tee. He pitched out into the fairway before thundering a 311-yard three wood off the deck into the heart of the green:

Ravetto ended the day one shot behind in second after a 70 but had the bragging rights in yardage after his tee shot at the 14th simply ran and ran. “The course is really open off the tee, it suits my game because I can bomb the driver whenever I want,” he said afterwards – and he was not kidding:

Dinner tastes better for Beef

Andrew Johnston was the chasing group at 14 under par after a solid 70 to add to the fireworks of Friday’s course-record 63. After a satisfying finish to his round, the veteran said: “I made a good up and down on 17 for par after a poor tee shot and to finish with birdie always makes dinner taste much better.”

Weather watch

Ross Fisher, also in that group at 14 under along with a third Englishman in Brandon Robinson Thompson and France’s Adrien Saddier, fears the weather could still have more in store to disrupt what should otherwise be an exciting final round. “Not sure if I’d say looking forward to it,” he admitted with a wry smile. “The forecast is pretty horrendous so it could be a day of patience and waiting around, but if we get to go and play then just try to go after it and make as many birdies as we can.”

Chips go with everything

Sung Kang was in the hunt at 11 under through 27 holes but his challenge faded on Friday’s back nine and was dented further by two early bogeys on Saturday. He responded in style at the sixth hole, however…
