D+D Real Czech Challenge: Tournament Guide

The Road to Mallorca returns to the Czech Republic this week, for the second event in the country this year. Here’s all you need to know about the D+D Real Czech Challenge taking place at Royal Beroun Golf Club…

New venue

Royal Beroun Golf Club

Royal Beroun Golf Club makes its debut as a Challenge Tour venue this week, with 132 players set to tee it up just 30 minutes from the capital city of Prague. The course at Beroun actually sits on a former military base, with the 160-acre site highlighted by rolling hills which make for a unique test. With roughly 75 metres of elevation from tee one to tee 18, the layout was built in 2006 to use the natural contours of the land.

In total, four irrigation lakes were installed during construction of the 6,656 yard par 70 course, with each playing a part on the opening and closing holes of both the front and back nine. The par five fifth is the toughest on the course, however the par four 13th, which doglegs uphill almost 90 degrees, is one to look out for on the back.

One last chance

This week in the Czech Republic could prove to be a defining one for a whole host of players in the field. The D+D Real Czech Challenge is the final opportunity for the 132 players to punch their ticket to China, for consecutive weeks that follow this one.

As it stands, for those outside the top 71 in the season-long Road to Mallorca Rankings, this week marks their last chance to earn the right to play in China and prolong their season. There is all to play for.

Event history

Andrea Pavan (2)

The D+D Real Czech Challenge has been on the Challenge Tour schedule for several years, with this year marking the 12th edition of the event. The first took place back in 2012 and it has been played every year since apart from 2020. In that time there have been several notable winners, none more so than last year’s winner, Andrea Pavan. The two-time DP World Tour winner won the event on his way to a return to golf’s Global Tour last year and has since gone on to have an impressive campaign in 2024.
