Crown Prince named patron of Made in Denmark

Made in Denmark has been given the royal seal of approval after HRH Crown Prince Frederik of Denmark was announced as the tournament’s patron.

The Crown Prince, a keen golfer and member of the International Olympic Committee (IOC), will also play the Wednesday Pro-Am at Himmerland Golf & Spa Resort in Aalborg, Denmark, which hosts the inaugural edition of the €1.5million event from August 14-17.

Tournament promoter Flemming Astrup said: “We are proud that Crown Prince Frederik has agreed to be patron of Made in Denmark, as his commitment to sport makes him the perfect patron for the tournament.

“We are also thrilled that the Crown Prince has chosen to play an active role in the tournament by teeing up in the Pro-Am, and I’m sure that his playing partners and the spectators will get a unique experience.”

Claus Birk Larsen, CEO of Himmerland Golf & Spa Resort, added: “Through his patronage, Crown Prince Frederik will without doubt help to raise the profile of Made in Denmark and Himmerland Golf & Spa Resort.

“With golf returning to the Olympics in two years’ time, and with the Crown Prince being a member of the IOC, we could not have asked for a better patron.”

Almost 30,000 tickets have now been sold for Made in Denmark, which marks The European Tour’s return to Danish soil after an 11-year absence.
