The Road to Mallorca heads to Denmark for the Copenhagen Challenge presented by Ejner Hessel, taking place at Royal Golf Club. Here are three players to watch out for this week…
Form horse
Cole Madey has quickly established himself as a contender on the European Challenge Tour and comes into this week on the back of impressive form. The American finished tied ninth at the UAE Challenge in Abu Dhabi before backing that up with a share of fifth last week the B-NL Challenge Trophy in the Netherlands.
With a scoring average of 69.1 and seven of his eight rounds under par on the Challenge Tour this season, it is surely a matter of time before Madey gets over the line.
Local boy
Benjamin Poke is hoping his fortunes will change when he tees it up on home soil this week. The Dane won DP World Tour Qualifying School in 2019 to secure his top tier playing privileges but subsequently lost his card and returned to the Challenge Tour in 2022.
The 31-year-old has struggled to find form on the Road to Mallorca but will be hoping a return to a course he knows and has practiced on as a youngster can lead to an upturn in form.
The outsider
Joel Moscatel Nachshon has only played three times on the Challenge Tour but has caught the eye. The Spaniard finished eighth at the UAE Challenge, improving from tied 40th the week beforehand at the Abu Dhabi Challenge, ahead of starting the European stretch with a share of 11th at the B-NL Challenge Trophy.
The 24-year-old was part of a chasing pack, who shared second place after 54 holes last week, but was edged out by eventual winner Jesper Svensson. However, that learning curve could work in his favour as he goes in search of a maiden title in Denmark this week.
